50 INNINGS OF SOFTBALL
The RI Rockets & Johnston Girls Softball host an annual fundraising event that is extremely important to us and has been recognized in local newspapers and on websites. The Rockets invite teams to particiapte in a full day of fun and softball to raise awareness and donations to help support Breast Cancer Research and Resources.
HISTORY
In 2019, the Rockets players and coaches came up with an idea to help raise awarenes for Breast Cancer Research and Resources. What better way to do that then by doing what they love to do, play softball. They came up with some modified rules for game play, sponsor sheets, had tshirts made, and went full pink out with shirts, socks, eyeblack, and more. On the first Saturday in October, they began at 9am and played for 13 hours straight to complete their commitment to play 50 Innings Of Softball. Following the success of the event, despite covid, we were able to once again hold the event in October of 2020 and make this an annual event. Plans and preparations are already being made for the next 50 Innings Of Softball.
SUCCESS!!!
With the help of our participating teams, sponsors, and raffles, we were able to make a donation to the Gloria Gemma Cancer Resource Foundation in the amount of $1,700. Everyone was proud of their efforts and we could not have been happier with the results.
The event was a question mark for 2020, but once we put our plan in place and received the green light to move forward, there was no stopping us. At the completion of the 2020 event, our teams, sponsors, and raffles more than quadrupled the previous year's donation. We made a donation to the Gloria Gemma Resource Foundation in the amount of $7,250.
In 2021, we really went all out and exceeded everyone's expectations. With the help of our players, coaches, families and friends, with raised $12,000 and $6,500 in 2022.
The RI Rockets continue to raise the bar and in 4 years have donated $27,450 !!!
